Irongate, Derby

Alvaston Park

Away from the City Centre, but close enough to be there within minutes without using the car. Not 'in the sticks', yet just a short walk from hundreds of acres of parkland and a short ride (15 minutes) from Calke Abbey and Park (National Trust) set in over 600 acres. Yes, you can have the best of both worlds when you stay at the Maryland.

We are ideally located on the main bus routes with direct connections to Donington Park and East Midlands Airport. There is a bus stop located right across the road from the Maryland.

Alvaston Park extends to 85 acres on the south bank of the river Derwent. As well as lots of open space, there is a fishing lake, childrens playground, cricket, football pitches, basketball courts, BMX and skateboard park complete with ramps and 'half pipe'.

The Riverlife Way path passes through Alvaston Park on its way from the city centre to the nearby Elvaston Castle Country Park. Another path, along the route of the disused Derby Canal, goes to Chellaston, Swarkestone, Melbourne and on into Leicestershire.
